ABOUT THE
IAER
The International Association of Electronics Recyclers, Inc. (IAER) is the
first and only trade association for the electronics recycling industry.
Electronics recycling is an emerging industry that is at a critical point in its
development, in terms of growth and challenges.
The IAER was formed to represent and serve the interests of the electronics
recycling industry as a key element in the development of an effective and
efficient infrastructure for managing the life cycle of electronics
products. One area, in particular, that is important to the future of the
industry, is the support and promotion of high standards of environmental
quality and regulatory compliance as well as high quality business practices –
an IAER priority.
A group of leadership organizations, representing a cross section of the
industry sectors (Recyclers, OEMs, and industry associations), became Founding Organizations of the IAER
to assist in the organization, development and direction of the association.
Their representatives worked together to prioritize and address the initial
focus areas for the IAER to best serve the needs of the industry.
A survey of the industry was conducted that unanimously supported
establishing such an association as well as identified the needs and challenges
facing the electronics recycling industry. The IAER has implemented its
organization, services, and general membership. The IAER was incorporated in the
state of New
York in 1998, and is registered as a not-for-profit
trade association with the US Internal Revenue Service.
The IAER established an organization to provide direction and support to the
operation of the association and its services to members. An organizational
strategy was developed for the IAER that defined the mission, scope and
objectives for the association. Currently, much of the leadership and support
for the activities of the IAER is provided by a group of Sustaining Members.
The IAER Board of Directors is responsible for the oversight and guidance of
the association. It is comprised of elected representatives from IAER Member
companies as well as leaders of the business community outside of the
electronics recycling industry. Click here to see the current members of
